Earth Day 2023: Invest in our Planet

We each spend 90% of our time inside, and studies show pollutants are two to five times higher indoors than outdoors.

And as for the planet, buildings have become the single biggest carbon offenders – they make up 39% of the world’s emissions. The world needs better buildings. Let's make each and every one fit for the future we all want to live in.

That’s what we do at Infogrid, we give you the data to make your building healthy, efficient and sustainable and we want to enable the change that the built environment so desperately needs.

This Earth Day, we asked Infogridders across the company to tell us why working for a sustainability-conscious company is important to them, and we loved their answers! Check it out below.

“We have seen in recent years how technology has been a disruptor across our society - both good and bad. It’s rare to have the opportunity to be part of a tech revolution with so much potential for good, which attracted me to Infogrid. Reducing carbon emissions across commercial properties is ripe for innovation - and Infogrid is leveraging the latest technologies to kickstart this revolution.

As an engineer, it’s really exciting to learn how small improvements can scale with the power of technology to have a massive positive impact on the planet!”

Graeme Lindsay, Head of Engineering

“Infogrid is taking a significant step towards addressing climate change and improving our overall well-being. Company commitment to offsetting  employees’ carbon footprint takes a strong stance on environmental issues and makes me feel better about myself.

It’s inspiring to see a company taking such a strong stance on environmental and social issues, and I hope more organisations follow in their footsteps.”

Beata Jakubowska, Senior FP&A Analyst

“During my tenure at Infogrid It's been amazing to see the work our team has done to achieve our mission in the fight against climate change.

Working alongside peers and an industry that all share a similar goal excites me to see the impact we can make on our planet today and into the future."

Matt Corbishley, US Sales Manager

“Before joining Infogrid I was unaware of the real impact our actions have on the planet , and what that means for mine / our children .

Now having access to the broader understanding of the carbon emissions produced by buildings alone really helps to contextualise how important our every action really is. We do a huge amount in providing the necessary information so that our users can make better decisions which directly help them to bring down their carbon emissions, from flushing less pipes, or a better understanding of occupancy so that smarter cleaning can occur to monitoring the electricity usage. Every action we take is a step towards reducing carbon and making our children's world a better place.”

Krish Desai, Head of Product

“Infogrid's mission is pivotal to turning the tide on climate change in the built environment. It is incredibly inspiring to work in an environment where we are all aligned on something bigger than ourselves, and to get to work on products that help further our mission to net zero and take part in volunteering days that help our planet.”

Rachel Whalley, Deputy Chief of Staff

“As a BI Analyst at Infogrid, I’m not just helping to drive profitability, I’m building a platform of intelligence that drives the change I want to see in the world. Our solutions help the built environment to lessen their impact on the earth.

By bringing data to Facilities Management teams across industries, we are providing the information that has been left out of decision making for far too long. It gives me pride to say that every working day at Infogrid is an investment in our planet.”

Christine Shrader, BI Analyst

“I came to Infogrid because of my interest in sensors, data, and carbon reduction. What I really enjoy is getting customers with large buildings that want to reduce carbon, but are not sure where to start. It's overwhelming and tricky to quantify what to do.

Through combining our sensors with AI and expertise, we are able to get them started. It's exciting seeing the transformation as they begin to see what their buildings are really doing.”

Sam Lloyd, Data Scientist

“A special part about working for Infogrid is that daily, I get to speak to the operational game changers for driving down carbon emissions. The facilities, estates and maintenance professionals who are on the ground implementing our actionable insights are heroes in helping us achieve our North Star.

At Infogrid, theories are put into practice through our actionable insights and so everything we do is purpose driven.”

Sade Clarke, Senior Sales Development Representative

“Investments in sustainable practices are investments in the important role of nature in our communities and personal wellbeing. We need rapid and impactful change.

This is why our mission to create data and insights that help our customers continue to deliver high performing commercial real estate but more efficiently and with reduced resource wastage is so important.”

JB, Director of Product Marketing

“For me, everything we do comes back to the planet. Preserving it and its magical ecosystems and creatures is what drives me in life.

What fills me with joy about Infogrid every day is that not only does the company’s product help the world realise a sustainable future for the Earth, but that I get to be surrounded by amazing people who care just as passionately about that mission.

Nothing could be more motivating to get me out of bed each morning and pushing forward higher and faster. It’s all for you, #Earth”
